A simple homemade take on Turkish-inspired beyti kebab, made with spiced beef wrapped in a tortilla and baked until golden. Serve it with harissa hummus and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad for a delicious and balanced meal!
Ingredients (2 servings)
-
- 400 g beef mince
- ½ onion, finely chopped
- 1 handful fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 2 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 large tortilla wraps
- Olive oil, for brushing
Method
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (200°C fan).
- Add the beef mince, onion, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix thoroughly with your hands until everything is evenly combined.
- Divide the meat mixture between the two tortilla wraps. Spread a thin, even layer over each tortilla, pressing it gently into place.
- Roll each tortilla up tightly, then slice into even pieces. Thread the pieces onto skewers, placing them close together.
- Arrange the skewers on a baking tray, brush with a little olive oil and bake for around 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the beef is cooked through and the tortillas are golden.
- Serve with harissa hummus and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad seasoned with sumac.
Tips & Variations
- Harissa hummus adds a lovely spicy kick, but garlic yoghurt or tzatziki works well too.
- Add chilli flakes or cayenne pepper for extra heat, or reduce the spices slightly for a milder flavour.
