Dumpling lasagna

Mar 4, 2026 | Recipes

If you love dumplings but don’t love the time it takes to fold dozens of them, this dumpling lasagna is the perfect shortcut.

Ingredients (4 servings)

    • 600 g chicken mince
    • 4 spring onions, chopped
    • 500 g napa cabbage, finely chopped
    • 200 g wonton wrappers
    • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
    • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tbsp fish sauce
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tbsp chilli crisp oil
    • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Method

  1. Prepare the filling. In a large bowl, combine the chicken mince, chopped spring onions, and finely chopped Napa cabbage. Add the dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, sesame oil, fish sauce, and oyster sauce. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  2. Assemble the lasagna. Lightly oil or line a baking dish. Place a layer of wonton wrappers on the bottom, slightly overlapping if needed.
  3. Add the filling. Spread a layer of the chicken mixture over the wrappers. Continue layering wonton wrappers and filling until everything is used up, finishing with a layer of wrappers on top.
  4. Steam the lasagna. Place the baking dish in a larger pot or pan and pour hot water around it so it reaches about halfway up the sides. Cover with a lid and steam for about 30 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the wonton wrappers are tender.

Finish and serve. Sprinkle sesame seeds and a little crispy chilli oil over the top, then let the lasagna rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Tips & Variations

  • Add extra vegetables like grated carrots, mushrooms, or finely chopped bok choy to bulk up the filling.
  • Serve with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a drizzle of sesame oil for extra dumpling-style flavour.
